The Brooklyn Bridge
Jule Styne & Sammy Cahn • 1947
A warm, affectionate ode to one of New York’s most iconic landmarks, written for the 1947 MGM musical It Happened in Brooklyn. The film was one of Sinatra’s most charming early vehicles, and this number captures the particular New York pride and nostalgia that ran through much of his work with Cahn and Styne in the 1940s.
Part of one of the richest single-film collaborations of the Cahn and Styne partnership, alongside “Time After Time,” “It’s the Same Old Dream,” and “I Believe.”
