Paris Holiday

Jimmy Van Heusen & Sammy Cahn • 1958

Written for the 1958 Bob Hope comedy Paris Holiday, this breezy title number captures the escapist fantasy of postwar Europe — sunny, carefree, and deliberately frothy. Van Heusen and Cahn wrote two songs for the film; Hope and Crosby recorded both for United Artists in February 1958, though Crosby himself never appeared on screen.

The pairing of Hope and Crosby is pure chemistry — their long Road pictures partnership giving even a lightweight number like this an easy, bantering warmth that no one else could quite replicate.
