Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

Jule Styne & Sammy Cahn • 1945

Written on one of the hottest days of summer 1945 — Cahn famously recalled that he and Styne decided to “write a winter song” rather than drive to the beach — this became one of the best-loved Christmas songs ever written. Vaughn Monroe’s original recording reached #1 on the Billboard charts, and the song has been recorded hundreds of times since.

Notably, the lyric never once mentions Christmas — it’s purely about staying warm and cozy with someone you love while the snow falls outside. That universality is exactly why it has never gone away.
