It's the Same Old Dream
Jule Styne & Sammy Cahn • 1947
Written for the 1947 film It Happened in Brooklyn, this romantic ballad was one of several Cahn and Styne songs Sinatra introduced during their remarkably productive run together in the mid-1940s. The film also featured “The Brooklyn Bridge” and “Time After Time,” making it one of the richest single-film contributions of their partnership.
A lovely, unhurried love song that deserves more attention than it typically receives — Sinatra’s recording is quietly gorgeous.
